Become A Volunteer
How You Can Help
We can only continue to help our clients through the generous involvement of our community.
McHenry House is currently looking for someone like you to be a volunteer. If you have a caring heart and a few free hours, please give us a call at (209) 835-2328. There are many ways in which you can help, and nobody is too young or too old.
Children's Activities How can you make the difference in the life of a child? You can start by volunteering to help with our Homework Club. McHenry House has made this a time for the children to receive help on homework. Under the supervision of an instructional aide, the volunteers will work with the children and participate in creative activities like art, reading and games.
Office Support The McHenry House office is always busy, and assistance with some general office work is always welcome.
Group Activities We are looking for groups, and companies from the community to help coordinate and organize on going projects. Groups can be as big as 20 to as few as 2. The items we need your help with include: Supply drives, Baby Diaper drives, Personal Hygiene drives, Towels and Washcloth drives. Projects to help improve our Shelter properties for our clients include: Spring-cleaning, yard work, painting and general facilities repair and improvements.
Holiday & Special Events We need your time, talents, and caring hearts to bring "comfort and joy" to McHenry House clients during the holiday seasons. Make valentine cards for our clients, gather new items for a Mothers Day treat for our Moms. Honor our dads with a Father Day greeting.
Fundraising Teams If you enjoy being involved in event planning, this is for you. Join our team as a committee member and participate in planning and coordinating annual events to raise funds to support our programs and services.
Interns Interns will be trained in a professional work environment while gaining skills to provide quality services in the community.
